Riad Nassim is located right in the Fes medina. It has no sign over the door, but if you call before you try to find it, the staff will save you from the medina touts. In fact, Khalid, his mother, and his friend Mohamed will take very good care of you. Mohamed even took off on his motorcycle to buy our bus tickets to Chefchaouen so we wouldn't have to trek across the city to do that ourselves. The riad is an old medina house with a terrace view and rooms that are generally comfortable and well appointed. Ours, on the roof, had some minor issues, but Khalid fixed the most pressing one--the door latch--on the spot, and was very apologetic that the renovation of the room was a bit incomplete. Really, everything about Riad Nassim left us with a good feeling about Fes--very different from my previous stay in the city (in a hotel that shall remain unnamed). Khalid arranged a remarkable tour of the medina for us, and we saw him taking care of other guests by guiding them to a hammam and meeting them later to walk back. A generous, simple breakfast was included in the price of the room. We never felt pressed to pay more than the agreed price for anything at Riad Nassim, but the staff all seemed surprised and happy when we gave them a tip. Riad Nassim is a very good, reasonably priced choice for a stay in the Fes medina.
Khalid who works and lives there made our stay comfortable, easy and enjoyable. He is warm, friendly and so helpful and thoughtful. The room was clean and the heating worked well, with good hot water shower and an excellent breakfast on the lovely roof terrace every morning. Great value for money!
I didn't like that the area was not safe to walk around on our own at night. That seemed to apply to most of the medina though, not just this hotel.
Beautiful architecture. Confortable rooms. Good food. Friendly staff.
A little bit difficult to find because there is no sign to follow from the gate to the riad. A little bit cold in the dinning, lobby room.
Amazing place, great spacious rooms with amazing decoration. Perfect location (5 minute walk from the souks and the main tannery). BEST HOST EVER. Highly recommend especially for young or more hip people, excellent atmosphere at the Riad, chilled crowd at all times. The hosts are extremely helpful in finding anything else you might need around town as well. One of the best stays in all of Morocco (9 day trip including 8 different cities)
The Riad is in nice location, the heart of the Medina, with authentic Moroccan decoration and spacious. Breakfast served on the roof top terrace was excellent. The best thing about the Riad was its friendly staff: Khalid really made us feel welcomed and helped us out in getting to know the medina.
enthusiastic and helpful staff (Khalid aka Stikaman) Location (within Medina, near gate) Great views over Medina
Riad Nassim is a good value riad. Located in the far reaches of the Medina, it can be hard to find the riad, or find your way out once there. However, this is overcome by the friendliness of the english speaking staff. "Stickaman," the riad's receptionist, cook, room service delivery and entertainment, was more than accommodating. He upgraded us to the suite for a nominal charge, as our room was uninhabitable because of a burst pipe. The riad has a beautiful terrace that overlooks the entirety of the Fez Medina. The common sitting area allowed us and our fellow guests a place to meet and share stories of hard bargains won in the Media during the day. I would definitely go back to Riad Nassim.
What a wonderful stay! The guesthouse has a great location at the edge of the medina so it serves as a great base to discover in the medina labyrinth. The hotel has a charming moroccan style interior decoration. Up on it's terrace there is a beautiful view over the city and a great place to enjoy the free breakfast. Best wishes to our friend Khalid a.k.a. 'Stekaman' the host of the hotel. Thank you for everything! Hope to see you again soon! We will definitely stay at Riad Nassim next time we visit Fez ♥ Elma & Ari Whatever you need, just ask Steka
Our room and the rest of the Riad was very tastefully decorated. The host was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Location was good, inside the old Medina.
The first time i went to Fes i met a very nice man, who worked on an hotel near Medina. After couple days we become friends. When i got at Riad Nassim i told Khalid that i would like to find this guy. Khalid works at Riad Nassim and take cares of everything up there. When he asked why i wanted to find this guy i told him that we became friends but we lost the contact. Khalid answered that if we dont find him, he would take his place. After couple hours staying in that hotel, we feltl as if we were in our own house, and every person that arrives at the hotel was like our guest too. We went in a low season and there were just Khalid working there, but you feel like if there was an hole staff of 5-10 persons.. He take cares of everything and understand the singularity of each guest. Is a very trustable person who you can call when you cant go back home or who also can help you to find a restaurant after midnight if you are starving. The Medina is a labirintic and hard place to walk around, what makes you feel that everyone charge for help when you get there, and lost. Khalid makes you understand that things are not like this and that people must get used to help each other for the simple fact that everyone needs help. despite the fact that the breakfast was great, the terrace view is fabulous and the room is very comfortable, at the end of your trip in Fès you can definitely go back home with a very good new friend.
The service staff was outstanding! Steki was the nicest host we had on the whole trip.
Very helpful and friendly staff member. The dinner was very nice.
Our room wasn't in the best condition (paint flaking off ceiling, bathroom door would not close, and bathroom flooded when we had showers)
The staff is very nice and helpful (steka). If you want to learn about the culture in morocco, talk to Steka. The riad itself is very beautiful. Rooms are properly decorated. Great views from the terrace. Good breakfast (Steka prepares it for whenever you need)
the host "Steaker" was exceptional and hard working, he met us and provided a cart for luggage. He offered to collect us if we were lost and even took us to the hammam as we spoke little french. He was genuine and were made to feel at home as soon we arrived. Thank you again , we will be reccomending the Raid for the staff. The food was lovely and the cook/house maid was friendly and hard working.
the shower did not drain very well.
For the price, this was a really nice place to stay. It was the staff who really put it over the top for me, they were so welcoming and lovely - I felt like I was a special guest in someone's home. They consistently went out of their way for me and when I came down with the flu they brought me tea and offered to go to the pharmacy for me.
The room decor is very nice and while I didn't mind the fact that it was a little aged (it was charming and added to the feeling of staying in someone's home) the bathroom tiling could use some maintenance.
